Click Craft Authorware Page Authorware logo

Adobe Authorware (formerly from Macromedia) was the best production package available specifically for the creation of interactive learning, assessment and performance support solutions.

NEWS (17 June 2008)

Henceforth, all software on this page is provided without charge--I have discontinued the ShareIt! service (which served me well since 1999). If you would like to obtain a registration key to use the software without limitation, please email your request to rlubensky at clickcraft dawt com and I'd be happy to send you one.

NEWS (01 August 2007):
Adobe has ceased development of Authorware. This comes as no surprise, as there has been no communication from Adobe about Authorware for over two years. What happens to it and where support will come in the future remains to be seen--perhaps the intellectual property can be sold, or it can be shifted to an open source project. The final release was Version 7.02 released in 2003 and the improved web player in 2004.

Commands and Knowledge Objects

Click Craft Find & Fix Command (ver 2.54 Apr/2008 211K)
Click here to download for Authorware 7.0.
Click here to download for Authorware 6.5.
The Find & Fix Command takes advantage of Authorware's magnificent internal programmability to do just as its name suggests. Set it to drill through your application finding icons that match selected properties or satisfy your own Find script. Then set it to change their properties, paste in icons or apply a Fix script to each found icon or its neighbours. You can even find and replace substrings in icon properties as well as calculation scripts. There are oodles of subtle features of this Command to make your life easier. This Command will most certainly improve your productivity. With Authorware 7.0 you can use Javascript! Take a look at a sample screen and read the help file. Why start from scratch every time you need to write a maintenance script? The Find & Fix settings and scripts are saved in XML format for re-use or even transmission to another developer! Sample setting files included. New batch file capability and expanded script edit area! Also sample scripts, including LanguageOut and LanguageIn to aid in localisation!
Registration fee is still only US$36. Register Find & Fix Command now!

"Everyone should have this in their toolkit. If you use it once, it will pay for itself. I've never seen a better bargain in software!" (Jamil Zainasheff, former Director of Engineering, Authorware)

"Your Find & Fix Command saved me a ton of time -- in a program that had over 1100 display icons with varying transitions, I was able to adjust them to one common transition without messing anything else up, and in seconds, not hours! What a timesaver. If you don't already have it, get it!" (Bob Russell, former Sr. Interactivity Developer, Allen Interactions)

"You should really look into buying Ron Lubensky's Click Craft Find and Fix Command for this kind of work. It has saved me tons of time!" (Ole Kristensen, eLearning Project Manager, Grundfos Management A/S, The Poul Due Jensen Academy, Denmark)

JavaScript Quick Reference for Authorware 7.0 (ver 1.60 40K)
Click here to download for Authorware 7.0.
Authorware 7.0 can now be programmed using JavaScript in addition to its classic "calculation" language. Instead of having browser objects like document, window and navigator, JavaScript for Authorware has its own Authorware Object Model that relates to its icons. This quick reference is a Command that you can display while you author. Use it to learn and remind yourself about syntax and object usage. It is presented as an Explorer-style tree. There is even an option to install it into your Authorware 7.0 script editor snippets.

Authorware 2004 Web Player Helper Command (ver 1.3 22K)
Click here to download for Authorware 6.5 and 7.0. (Just copy the appropriate file in the zip to your Commands folder). The new Authorware 2004 Web Player is fantastic. But One Button Publishing (OBP) in Authorware 6.5 and 7.0 isn't set up to take advantage of it. The default configuration is for the player to install the complete set of support files, but you can speed up the process by specifying a compact set of files and supply xtras with your package. Also, intranet deployment requires that player support files be referenced from a client location rather than from the Macromedia site. After publishing your learning object for web deployment, run this Command to:

  1. add or replace a PLR line in your web player map file to specify complete, compact or custom installation.
  2. check that OBP can select the codebase reference for the new player in any HTML template by updating your OBP.INI file.

For complete information about the new Authorware Web Player, go to this page at the Macromedia website. This product is FREE!!

JavaScript Object Watch Command (ver 2.0 110K)
Click here to download for Authorware 7.0.
Tired of having to aw.Trace() your JavaScript variables to find out what your application is doing? This Command should help. It will paste a Knowledge Object icon into the top of your application, then resign itself to act as a non-modal inspector window to it while your application runs!! View a list of all instantiated JavaScript variables, then select some for a watch list. You can also enter specific objects, properties or methods to watch. The watch list gets initialised into an Authorware variable, so it is retained across successive runs and authoring sessions. NEW: works on packaged files too!
This product is FREE!! and is a collaborative effort between Ron Lubensky and Andrew Lucking.

Spell Check Knowledge Object (ver 2.0 117K)

Just drop this Knowledge Object into your file under a button, then point it to a variable or a windows control for text to check. It's that simple.
